American Medical Association (AMA)
*To promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health.

The AMA is a member organization of the ACCME. The AMA nominates three individuals for appointment to the Board of the ACCME.

Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®) 
*The ACCME's Mission is the identification, development and promotion of standards for quality continuing medical education (CME) utilized by physicians in their maintenance of competence and incorporation of new knowledge to improve quality medical care for patients and their communities.

The ACCME sets the standards for the accreditation of all providers of CME activities. The ACCME has two major functions: the accreditation of providers whose CME activities attract a national audience and the recognition of state or territorial medical societies to accredit providers whose audiences for its CME activities are primarily from that state/territory and contiguous states/territories.
