Convention weekend will be here soon!
All Indiana State Medical Association members are invited to attend the 176th Annual ISMA Convention from Sept. 26-28 at the Embassy Suites in Noblesville. The centerpiece of the convention is the annual meeting of the ISMA House of Delegates (HOD), where representatives from around the state discuss and vote on resolutions. Adopted resolutions become part of ISMA policy and set the organization’s legislative agenda.
The all-day
Physician Wellness Symposium on Sept. 26 will kick off the weekend festivities. Corey Martin, MD; Richard Gunderman, MD, PhD; and Marie Brown, MD, MACP will be the guest speakers, and all attendees will receive a copy of former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy’s book “Together: Loneliness, Health and What Happens When We Find Connection.” Therapy dogs from Paws & Think will be returning to the event. Note that registration for the symposium is separate from Convention and participants must register for both.
The Indiana SAR Color Guard will present the colors at the opening session of the House of Delegates. AMA President Bobby Mukkamala, MD, will address the opening session.
The weekend also includes numerous opportunities to celebrate and share fellowship with colleagues, including the IMPAC Social/Panel Presentation featuring Brian Howey, founder and editor of the Howey Politics Indiana newsletter; Adam Wren, founder of the "Importantville" political newsletter and writer-reporter for POLITICO; and James Briggs, columnist and opinion editor for the Indianapolis Star. The President’s Night Celebration will feature the Sherwood Club Band, playing classic rock from the ‘70s and ‘80s.
