Resources available for helping patients re-enroll in Medicaid
Since the federal Public Health Emergency ended this past spring, thousands of patients eligible for continuous Medicaid coverage have been disenrolled.

According to the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA), more than 142,264 Hoosiers have lost coverage over the first three months of the year-long unwinding process. An estimated 300,000 to 400,000 Hoosiers could ultimately lose coverage, mainly due to procedural disenrollments.

Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) is asking physicians and other health care personnel to convey to patients the importance of updating their contact information by following these steps:

  • Go to the FSSA Benefits Portal at www.fssabenefits.in.gov.
  • Scroll down to the blue “Manage Your Benefits” section.
  • Click either “Sign in to “My account" or "Create account."
  • Confirm that your contact information is correct.
  • Call 800-403-0864 if you need assistance.
  • Watch your mail and be sure to respond with any information requested.

If coverage is dropped, patients can reapply and possibly get retroactive coverage up to 90 days after falling off of the rolls, unless they have coverage under the Healthy Indiana Plan.

The FSSA website has numerous materials in multiple languages available to share with patients in practice settings.
