2 medical students join staff as health policy fellows
Two rising second-year medical students will assist the ISMA Government Relations team for the summer as part-time, paid ISMA Health Policy Fellows. They will research significant health policy issues and learn about Indiana’s legislative, legal and regulatory processes firsthand.

Nadia Khan, a student at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MU-COM), is a graduate of Penn State University, where she earned B.A. in biology and health policy administration. She also earned a Master of Science in Biological Sciences from Marian University. Kahn founded an organization that works to improve health protocols in the Philadelphia area and is president of the Entrepreneurship and Health Management Student Interest Group at MU-COM. She is also a certified phlebotomist and certified health unit coordinator.

Emily Stevens, also a student at MU-COM, is a summa cum laude graduate of DePauw University, where she earned a B.A. in biochemistry and a minor in anthropology. She is also a recipient of the Joyce E. Hubbard Endowment in Cardiology from IU Health Riley Hospital for Children. Stevens has a special interest in how health care shapes society, how practice guidelines are created and key motivators that push lawmakers and hospital administrators to review existing and new laws.
