HIP rates equalizing across all programs starting Jan. 1
Many Hoosier physicians will see an increase in their Medicaid reimbursement rates with the new year.

Providers under the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP 2.0) already receive reimbursements at the same rate as Medicare, but non-HIP Medicaid services are currently reimbursed at 75% of Medicare. With the state facing a federal order to equalize rates among its Medicaid programs, the ISMA successfully advocated in this year’s legislative session for an increase in non-HIP reimbursements, rather than the HIP reimbursement cut initially proposed.

On average, Medicaid reimbursements for non-HIP office visits will increase 26%, with reimbursement for other services increasing anywhere from 6% to 53%. Indiana Health Care Programs (IHCP) has posted preview links for the new fee schedules, accessible through IHCP Fee Schedules (indianamedicaid.com).

The new rates take effect Jan. 1.
