IDOH offers guidance for lead screening, testing, reporting in kids
A new Indiana law that takes effect Jan. 1, 2023, requires physicians and nonphysician health care professionals to confirm that children have been tested for lead, and if not, to offer this testing to the child’s parent or guardian.

As required by the law, the Indiana State Health Department (IDOH) Division of Lead and Healthy Homes this week shared guidance and standards for the lead screening, testing and reporting.

IDOH also provided a blood lead test refusal form to document that the testing had been offered but was refused.
