In August 2017, Indiana took the first steps toward implementing a comprehensive, statewide platform for health care professionals to review patients' controlled-substance prescription history more quickly and efficiently. This platform supports Indiana's prescription drug monitoring program (INSPECT) and transfers data into electronic health records (EHRs) and pharmacy management systems. Statewide integration of the INSPECT platform is a key component of Indiana's ongoing efforts to attack the opioid crisis.

At the end of this webinar, attendees will be able to:
1) Understand the barriers to and advantages of integrating prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP) information directly into electronic health records (EHRs).
2) Understand how putting INSPECT data directly into the hands of doctors making critical prescribing decisions will help save lives and support Indiana’s fight against prescription drug and opioid abuse.
3) Comprehend the process used by Deaconess Hospital, the first hospital in Indiana to implement INSPECT integration.
4) Gain important tips for implementation within their own hospitals as they work toward integration.
