ISMA Health Policy Summer Fellowship

Are you interested in learning how medicine and law interact? How physicians and patients are represented in government? The ISMA Health Policy Summer Fellowship is for you!

Summary: The Indiana State Medical Association, the largest physician member organization in Indiana, is seeking two medical students (one each from the Indiana University School of Medicine and the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine) during the summer between first and second year to help with a variety of exciting physician advocacy projects. The fellows will assist the ISMA VP of Government Affairs in developing talking points for legislative sessions, reviewing new laws, researching health care policy, and a number of other eye-opening endeavors at ISMA. This is a great opportunity for any medical student, especially those who plan on being involved with health care administration and shaping health care's influence in society.

The fellowship is a part-time, paid position. While the hours are flexible based on the students’ schedules, fellows are expected to work weekdays over approximately eight weeks at the ISMA office in Indianapolis.

In addition to offering valuable experience in physician advocacy, the Health Policy Summer Fellowship will be an excellent talking point when you interview for residency positions!
