ISMA Past President Vincent J. Santare, MD, dies
Vincent J. Santare, MD, was ISMA president in 1976.
ISMA Past President Vincent J. Santare, MD, died Sept. 12 at age 98. Dr. Santare, a retired Schererville urologist, served as ISMA president in 1976.

Dr. Santare attended Long Island College of Medicine and was a captain in the U.S. Air Force, serving in World War II. He was on staff at Our Lady of Mercy and Community hospitals, was chief of staff at St. Margaret and St. Catherine hospitals and served on many community boards.

Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 23, from 2 to 6 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave., Munster, and on Monday from 9:30 to 10 am at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr., Dyer. A Mass of Christian Burial is set for 10 am Monday at the church. Interment at St. John-St. Joseph Cemetery in Hammond will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Soup Kitchen, 5310 S. Hohman Ave., Hammond, IN 46320; Hospice of Calumet Area, 600 Superior Dr., Munster, IN 46321; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
