Grab a beer and talk politics with state legislators this fall.
Following the 176th Convention in Noblesville, ISMA will commence its second annual statewide effort to connect Indiana physicians with their lawmakers via a “Pints & Politics” series.
"Pints & Politics is arguably the most personal advocacy experience available to ISMA members," Douglas Boyle, Director of Policy and Government Affairs, said. "It is the easiest way for our members to meet and engage with their state legislators in a more relaxed, social environment. It also serves as a great opportunity for our members to educate themselves on legislators' priorities for the coming year's legislative session, as well as educate the legislators on the ISMA's most critical policy issues and positions. We strongly encourage our members to attend the Pints & Politics event(s) in their area and have a pint on us!"
Each Pints & Politics event will feature a cocktail hour with heavy appetizers before ISMA Vice President of Government Relations John Ruckelshaus introduces legislators and gives an overview of ISMA’s 2026 legislative agenda. Attendees will then have the opportunity to ask questions of lawmakers in attendance.
Each event will start at 6:30 p.m. local time and last no more than two hours.
“Pints and politics provided an informal, relaxed setting to start building relationships with legislators,” Nicole Sonn, MD, said. “It was an amazing opportunity to share our perspectives on top issues, such as prior authorization, reimbursement, and preventing inappropriate expansion of scope of practice.”
