Power Up Indiana invests in employer-led training that expands opportunity for workers and addresses workforce shortages across the health care sector. The program is administered by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. Power Up Indiana helps employers grow by developing talent from within, creating new career pathways and growing wages for Hoosiers while addressing workforce needs in key industries.

At Deaconess Health System, the Power Up investment is helping existing employees advance into high-demand clinical careers by expanding Step Up, a program that allows frontline employees to earn professional credentials while continuing to receive their regular wages. More than 100 employees are enrolled in pathways including nursing, sonography, medical imaging, laboratory technology, medical assisting and medical coding. The program provides employees in entry-level roles — including Environmental Services, Dietary, Patient Registration, and other support areas — with a direct pathway to licensed and specialized healthcare careers.

DaMar Staffing Solutions is expanding Indiana’s community-based healthcare workforce by preparing professionals who help patients navigate care and address barriers such as transportation and housing. With support from Power Up, DaMar focuses on upskilling community health workers, registered nurse coordinators, caregiver guides, transition specialists, and patient service representatives, reducing the strain on hospital clinical staff while improving patient access to health services.
