ISMA joined an American Medical Association (AMA) Federation letter this week in support of H.R. 9693, the “Patients First Act.” This comprehensive, bipartisan legislation would reform the Medicare physician payment system and replace the annual cycle of cuts and temporary patches with a payment system that is stable, predictable, and more reflective of the actual costs of delivering care. The letter was addressed to John Joyce, MD, Greg Murphy, MD, and Kim Schrier, MD, all physician U.S. Representatives. The letter commends the group's bipartisan leadership in introducing this legislation and urges their colleagues to join as cosponsors. The letter in its entirety is here.
