Registration for the next cohort of “Advocacy Bootcamp,” ISMA’s advocacy leadership training program, is now open! This hybrid program aims to support and develop active, effective health policy advocates from among ISMA’s most engaged members.

This is an opportunity for health care leaders ready to take the next step in physician advocacy AND those who have been in the field for a while but feel they could use some extra polish. Our goal is to foster and sustain physician advocacy champions who become effective and active health policy advocates. Some of the topics that will be covered include how policy is made in Indiana; the anatomy of the federal and state legislatures; how to track bills; how to navigate the Indiana General Assembly website; frameworks for policy analysis; aspects of strategy when lobbying; self-awareness and self-management when meeting with legislators; and preparing for meetings with policymakers.

Zoom or in-person sessions led by ISMA’s Government Relations (GR) team and other subject-matter experts will take place one day each month from October 2023 through May 2024. Participants will also take part in Physician Advocacy Day at the Statehouse in the spring. The cost for the bootcamp is $500 and registration is open until Oct. 13. The program will have a total of 25 members and up to 10.0 CME credits will be offered for participating. If you're unable to attend one of the virtual sessions, ISMA staff will work with you to make it up. 

Due to increased interest, ISMA recommends registering ASAP to save your spot. ALL ISMA members are welcome to participate.
