Still time to register for Physician Wellness Symposium

    Robert J. Waldinger, MD

ISMA’s first-ever Physician Wellness Symposium is next week!

The all-day symposium, scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6, is accredited for 5.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and will be held at the Embassy Suites in Plainfield. It is intended to prioritize the well-being of physicians and health care professionals, recognize their pivotal role in health care systems and offer strategies and resources to promote wellness and resilience.

Accomplished psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Robert J. Waldinger, MD, will deliver the keynote address. Dr. Waldinger is a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, where he directs the Harvard Study of Adult Development, the longest scientific study of happiness ever conducted. Among his many works, Dr. Waldinger is the author of “The Good Life,” which examines the central role of relationships in shaping our health and well-being. Symposium attendees will receive a copy of "The Good Life," and a book signing will follow Dr. Waldinger's presentation.

Additional presenters during the symposium include Stefanie Simmons, MD, chief medical officer of the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation; Indianapolis Colts Kicking the Stigma Director Brett Kramer; and Ascension St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis CMO Jeffrey Rothenberg, MD. The symposium will also include a panel presentation featuring six physician leaders.

Registration for the symposium is open until Sept. 3. The symposium fee is $50 for ISMA physician members, $100 for physician nonmembers, $25 for residents and medical students, and $50 for nonmember others. View the full schedule at www.ismanet.org/physicianwellnesssymposium
