The virtual 172nd Annual ISMA Convention (#ISMAcon21) is less than one month away, from Sept. 10 to Sept. 12. Continue reading for details about the convention, including how to register, how to submit feedback on resolutions and preliminary reference committee recommendations, and how to become familiar with the ISMA Events app – the only way to access and participate in the virtual convention.

Register by Sept. 1
House of Delegates (HOD) members are strongly encouraged to register for convention by Sept. 1 by visiting www.ismanet.org/convention. Everyone who registers by Aug. 20 will receive a gift box with goodies from ISMA. If you encounter difficulty in registering, please contact Vicki Riley for assistance. 

Day-by-day highlights 
Friday, Sept. 10: The first HOD session will begin at 7 p.m. ET. Highlights will include remarks by Gov. Eric Holcomb; AMA President Gerald E. Harmon, MD; ISMA President Roberto Darroca, MD; ISMA Alliance President Dawn Davis; IMPAC Board Chair John McGoff, MD; and AMPAC liaison Michael Giblin.

Saturday, Sept. 11: Reference committees will meet consecutively beginning at 9 a.m. ET to hear testimony on resolutions and the committees’ preliminary recommendations. Because of the virtual format, a 90-second timer will be used during testimony.

Sunday, Sept. 12: The HOD will reconvene at 9 a.m. ET to vote on final reference committee report recommendations. Other highlights include election of ISMA officers and AMA delegation members, a tribute to ISMA members who passed away in the previous year and installation and swearing in of newly elected officers and AMA delegation members. 

Comment on resolutions with ISMA Pulse
Commenting on resolutions using ISMA Pulse (Comment Period 1) will close at 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 15. To leave feedback, go to www.ISMAPulse.com. Next, reference committees will meet to discuss feedback left on each resolution and prepare preliminary recommendations for whether they should be adopted, not adopted or referred to the Board of Trustees for study or action. From Aug. 23 to Sept. 5 (Comment Period 2) you may review these recommendations and leave additional feedback before reference committee reports are discussed and voted on at convention. ISMA Events app
Sign in to ISMA Events now at www.ISMAEvents.com if you have not already done so! This expanded version of our 2019 convention app is the only way to take part in this year’s virtual convention, and using it on your laptop or desktop computer is recommended. You can access your convention schedule and Delegates Handbook on ISMA Events, as well as verify your credentials and cast votes using Election Buddy. Prior to convention, you can also use ISMA Events to access ISMA Pulse.
