Resolution comment period to begin July 1
Thank you to all ISMA physician and medical student members who submitted resolutions for consideration by the 2022 House of Delegates. Approximately 100 resolutions were submitted. Members will be able to leave feedback and comment on the resolutions using the ISMA Pulse digital engagement tool from July 1 through Aug. 14, and summaries of all feedback will be posted online after Aug. 15. Keep reading to learn more about the resolution process and ISMA Pulse.

Editorial review: Ends June 30
Currently, ISMA staff is reviewing submitted resolutions to make sure they conform to the writing guidelines online at www.ismanet.org/convention. Staff may also provide authors with information about any related laws or current ISMA policies, if identified. Any suggested editorial changes will be communicated to authors for approval. And, if a resolution would create a fiscal impact, the potential impact will be communicated to the author before a fiscal note is appended to the resolution.

Comment period: July 1–Aug. 14
On July 1, resolutions will be posted at www.ismapulse.com for members’ feedback on how the House of Delegates should vote on each resolution: Adopt (as is), Amend, Not Adopt, Refer to Board, or No Opinion (member is neutral). Members can also post comments about amendments, stating additional thoughts or opinions. To maintain transparency and encourage interaction, members’ names will be displayed with their comments, and comments cannot be changed once they have been submitted.

Also, in response to members’ suggestions, opportunities for interaction have been expanded in the following ways for 2022:

Email visible to members: The first time you log in to ISMA Pulse, you will be prompted to decide whether to allow other users to see your email address and email you directly. If you do opt to receive emails, you can opt out at any time using the menu at the top right of any Pulse page. Also, if you are the primary author of a resolution, you will be asked when submitting your resolution electronically whether to share your email so that other members may email you directly about the resolution.

View others’ comments: This year, you can see what other members have said about a resolution before you leave your own feedback (choose how you think the House of Delegates should vote) or comment (state your opinion).

Reply to comments: Before you can reply to any comments on a resolution, you must submit feedback on that resolution. You cannot change or delete a comment you've posted, but you can post additional comments.

Change your feedback: You can change your feedback – how you think the House of Delegates should vote on a resolution – any time before the comment period closes on Aug. 14, 2022.

Daily summaries: Unless you opt out, you will receive a daily email summarizing interactions, if any, on comments that you’ve posted.

Feedback summaries posted: After Aug. 15
After the comment period ends, summaries of members’ feedback will be posted at www.ismapulse.com and www.ismanet.org/convention. Comments on each resolution will remain visible until after convention.
