Neary will start as vice president of government affairs on June 1

    Savannah Neary

Savannah Neary starts as the new ISMA Vice President of Government Affairs on June 1. She is no stranger to the Statehouse or to health care. For the last seven years, Neary has been the Director of Health Care Policy for Market Street Group, a contract lobbying firm. In that role, she has advocated for over 30 clients with a focus on health policy, including a large hospital system, a nursing home provider, a federally qualified health center and others. Prior to that work, Neary was Deputy Director of Legislative and Political Affairs for the Indiana Health Care Association, the membership association for long-term care facilities. In that role, she also served as treasurer for their political action committee. Neary will replace John Ruckelshaus who is running for state senator.

“Having just finished her 12th session at the Statehouse, Savannah’s relationships with state legislators run deep and her knowledge of the lobbying process and health policy are strong,” said Julie Reed, JD, Executive Vice President. “She is well-suited to build on our recent legislative successes, strengthen our strategic policy focus, expand our member engagement, and grow our political action committee.”

Neary is familiar with Indiana politics and lobbying; her father was a state Senator for 16 years and mentored Savannah in association lobbying.

That background has assisted over the years as she connected members with legislators both individually and through group events, organized member events at the Statehouse, and led an in-house government affairs committee.

“Over the past 12 years as a health care lobbyist, I have had the opportunity to see firsthand the strength, credibility, and impact ISMA brings to the Indiana Statehouse,” Neary said. “I look forward to building on that success and working collaboratively with legislators, stakeholders, and ISMA members to advance meaningful health care policy across Indiana.”
