Resources available as 174th ISMA Annual Convention approaches
It’s time to start preparing for the 174th ISMA Annual Convention!

With the yearly gathering just a few months away, important details ranging from resolution deadlines to hotel accommodations are available to members. The 2023 meeting will be held from Sept. 8 to Sept. 10 at Embassy Suites by Hilton Plainfield Indianapolis Airport. Convention registration will be open soon; watch for future alerts from ISMA.

Resolution deadline is June 11; 2023 sunset resolutions now available
Resolutions may now be submitted for consideration at convention. ISMA Bylaws require resolutions to be submitted no later than 90 days before convention, which means the deadline to submit resolutions is Sunday, June 11.

Resolutions written by members and adopted or referred to the Board of Trustees by the House of Delegates can drive ISMA’s public policy, determine ISMA’s formal position on issues, or make structural and process changes to our organization. They can also reaffirm the positions taken in resolutions that will expire in 2023 unless reintroduced; a list of those “sunset resolutions,” which requires an ISMA sign-in to view, is available here.

Additional resources on resolution submissions can be found here.

ISMA Pulse will again allow all members to share feedback and comments about ISMA resolutions before the convention. The 2023 comment period for resolutions will open on June 30 and close on Aug. 11. Summaries will be posted after Aug. 14.

The online tool can be used 24/7 on a computer, tablet or smartphone, although using a computer is advised. By using ISMA Pulse to leave feedback (indicating how you think the ISMA House of Delegates [HOD] should vote on a resolution) and to comment (sharing your thoughts with other members), you can make a difference for your profession and your patients.

Additional details and reminders on the comment period will be shared with members in ISMA Reports and on the ISMA website.

Declaration of Candidacy for ISMA Office
ISMA officers are elected at the annual HOD meeting and serve one-year terms. Delegates and alternate delegates to the AMA serve two-year terms and are elected on a staggered basis.

To be eligible for ISMA officer or AMA delegation positions, a candidate must have been an active member of ISMA for the preceding two years. Candidates may declare their intent to run for office at any time before elections are held. Only candidates who have submitted this form will be announced in ISMA Reports and on the ISMA website.

Nominations may be made at any session of the HOD so that nominations remain open until elections occur at the annual convention. Click here to view current leadership.
