‘Maximize Your Membership’ to maximize your impact as a physician
ISMA has launched a marketing and communications effort that introduces new members to all that an ISMA membership offers and reminds existing members of many features they may be missing out on.

For new members, the “Maximize Your Membership” campaign includes a virtual welcome packet with their member ID card, a link to a special landing page on the ISMA website, and a sequence of brief introductory messages that are sent after 30, 60 and 90 days. These messages serve as a virtual orientation to instruct new members on ways they can use their membership to stay informed, get involved and discover members-only benefits.

“We know that physicians are busy and don’t always have time to comb through our website,” said Dave Albin, senior director of membership and marketing. “So, we wanted to create a more welcoming experience for new members with a one-stop shop that quickly points them to what they may need from the organization. We felt it was equally important to remind existing members of everything we have to offer, as well.”

When the ISMA Membership and Marketing team began putting together the content for the campaign, one thing stood out that had previously been missing: What ISMA stands for.

“Physicians need to know what we stand for and why we do what we do to support them and to support the practice of medicine in Indiana,” Albin said. “That’s why it was important for the landing page to clearly lay out our mission, vision and guiding principles, which were developed several years ago as part of ISMA’s strategic plan and continue to guide our efforts today.”

Albin said his team is revisiting the entire ISMA website over the summer months to “freshen up” content and messaging that focuses on attracting new members to the ISMA.

“Our members decided to join ISMA for different reasons, and we need to ensure that our marketing efforts speak to those reasons in order to grow our membership and strengthen our influence as an advocate for physician-led care,” he said.

Just hit send – and tell other physicians about ISMA

At the bottom of the new Maximize Your Membership page, members can send a prepopulated message to a nonmember colleague who shares their beliefs about physician-led care, and encourage them to explore an ISMA membership.

“With more than 8,500 members, we have strength in numbers,” Albin said. “It’s communication tools like these that can help bring even more physicians together to help drive the future of health care in Indiana.”
