Past President Thomas Vidic, MD, honored by IUSM-SB
ISMA Past President Thomas Vidic, MD, has been named Outstanding Physician of the Year for 2020 by IU School of Medicine-South Bend (IUSM-SB), where he is an adjunct clinical associate professor of neurology.

The award honors a local physician who is an outstanding, impactful supporter of IUSM-SB, as well as a credit to their profession, said Mark D. Fox, MD, Ph.D, associate dean and regional campus director for the medical school. The honor is usually presented in November at IUSM-SB’s annual Medicine Ball, which was canceled last year because of the pandemic.

Dr. Vidic, an ISMA member since 1984, is a board-certified neurologist with the Elkhart Clinic. He is also medical director of the clinic’s research affiliate, Indiana Medical Research, LLC, where he has been principal investigator for many clinical studies on behalf of major pharmaceutical companies and leading university research institutions.

Dr. Vidic earned his MD at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago and completed his residency in neurology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

In addition to serving as ISMA president in 2012, Dr. Vidic is an AMA alternate delegate and a member and past chair of the ISMA Commission on Legislation. He is also on the board of the American Academy of Neurology.
