To help alleviate the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on many medical practices, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will use its “extreme and uncontrollable circumstances” policy for the 2020 performance year to let clinicians, groups and virtual groups request reweighting of one or more Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) performance categories.
