Mary McAteer, MD, elected District 7 alternate trustee
Mary McAteer, MD, has been elected District 7 alternate trustee to the ISMA Board of Trustees. She will serve a three-year term, from 2021 to 2024.

Dr. McAteer was elected in a special election held pursuant to Section 5.05 of the ISMA Bylaws to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of an alternate trustee before their term ended. This position could not be filled during the 2021 District 7 Annual Meeting because the ISMA Bylaws prohibited an alternate trustee from being elected in the same year as a trustee. However, Resolution 21-11, adopted by the ISMA House of Delegates on Sept. 12, lifted the prohibition for ISMA districts that have been allocated more than one trustee and alternate trustee based on membership census. This allows districts such as District 7 to maintain full representation on the ISMA Board of Trustees, beginning with the Board’s meeting this Sunday, Nov. 7.

Nominations were accepted from Oct. 4 to Oct. 18, and voting took place via online ballot from Oct. 19 through Nov. 2.

Congratulations to Dr. McAteer, and thanks to everyone who participated in the District 7 special election.
