According to the
Indiana Department of Health Measles Online Dashboard, as of Oct. 28, there are 74 known measles cases in Indiana this year. Currently, Wayne, LaGrange, Miami, and Adams counties have had over 10 cases each, with 8 other counties also reporting cases. All but two cases are reported as unvaccinated patients. The dashboard shows that the week of Oct. 5 was the week with the highest number of reported cases, with nearly 20.
Information about testing and vaccination can be found on the
IDOH website. Physicians must call IDOH when they suspect a measles case. According to IDOH, some instances of delayed notification have limited opportunities to intervene and offer prophylaxis to other exposed individuals when appropriate.
