Webinars explore medical license investigations, physician leadership
Two upcoming CME webinars will explore topics of special interest to many physicians. In the first, staffers from the Office of the Indiana Attorney General will explain how and why complaints against licensed physicians are investigated and prosecuted in Indiana. Then, Edward A. Walker, MD, MHA, of the Center for Leadership Development of the Washington State Medical Association, will discuss the importance of developing leadership competencies for physicians and preview ISMA’s 2022 physician leadership program.

The Office of the Indiana Attorney General investigates consumer complaints to determine whether the standards of practice for regulated professionals have been violated. The ISMA and the attorney general’s office are providing this education so that physicians are aware of the administrative complaint and investigation process, as well as common issues that could result in disciplinary action against a physician’s license.

Developing core leadership competencies can strengthen a physician’s resilience, improve time and stress management, and help improve workflow efficiency. Starting in February 2022, ISMA will offer a physician leadership course in conjunction with the Washington State Medical Association. The 2022 leadership course will be offered at a significant discount thanks to a grant from the Physicians Foundation and will combine live and online learning.
