Nationally recognized physician speakers headlining WIM Retreat
With renowned physician speakers set to take the stage at a world-class venue, the 2024 Women in Medicine Annual Retreat will prove an unforgettable experience.

On Feb. 24, ISMA will again offer the retreat at the acclaimed Bottleworks Hotel in downtown Indianapolis. The retreat is open to all female physicians and medical students in Indiana. This year’s theme is “Contracts, Noncompetes, MedMal, Oh My: Medicolegal 101,” focusing on the emotional trauma caused by having gone through litigation and adverse patient outcomes.

Stacia Dearmin, MD, and Wendy Ledesma, MD, will serve as the keynote speakers at this year’s retreat, discussing their experiences and expertise in navigating medical malpractice lawsuits personally and professionally.

Dr. Dearmin, founder of Thrive LLC, is a nationally recognized speaker, educator, and certified professional coach focused on supporting and inspiring physicians and other health care providers facing adverse patient outcomes and malpractice litigation. Dr. Ledesma, chief medical patient safety and quality officer for Sauk Prairie Healthcare in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, has spoken internationally to teams of physicians about burnout, medical malpractice, physician leadership, and ways to overcome the challenges of health care systems and deliver medical care with a renewed passion.

Additional speakers for the 2024 retreat will include Stacy Cook, JD; Amy Adolay, JD; and Mary Ruth Feldhake, JD. More information on the speakers is available on the 2024 WIM Retreat registration page.

The Bottleworks Hotel, recently named Yelp’s top place to stay nationally for 2023, is located in what was once part of the largest Coca-Cola bottling plant in the world. The hotel has an onsite spa, The Woodhouse Day Spa, and is surrounded by the Bottleworks District for your enjoyment throughout the weekend.

Registration is $200 for physician members, $300 for nonmember physicians, and $100 for medical students and residents. The fee covers Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as the CME workshop and a reception. On Friday, a small, informal group dinner will be held. If you would like to join us that evening, please indicate that by answering the required questions during the registration process.
