This week, ISMA and the Indiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (INAAP) asked the Indiana Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning (OMPP) in a letter to create an Accelerated and Advance Payment Program for Indiana Medicaid, similar to one the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has implemented for Medicare.
The CMS program can be a welcome short-term source of revenue for physician practices as patient volumes are continuing to decline. However, many pediatric and adolescent practices could not take advantage of it because they see very few Medicare patients, if any. If Indiana Medicaid adopted a similar program, pediatricians and others who see very few Medicare patients could take advantage of this option.
