About the Speaker:
Dr. Annis is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and the Indiana Society of Anesthesiologists. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in anesthesiology and in pain management. He is also a frequent presenter and lecturer at medical conferences focused on advanced pain management and anesthesiology techniques and has contributed to several research projects and journal articles.
Program Description:
Today’s fight against the opioid epidemic involves addressing it from all angles. It entails diverse groups working together - physicians, pharmacists, policy makers and medical and specialty societies - to reverse the tide. Understanding one another's perspectives and clinical realities is essential.

At the end of this webinar, attendees should be able to:
- Describe major medical societies’ current positions and recommendations in regards to opioids
- Outline the history of opioids and how we arrived at the current crisis
- Formulate alternative therapeutic options for the treatment of pain
