Series description:

The ISMA has introduced a monthly Women in Medicine (WIM) Discussion Forum to take the place of our 2022 Women in Medicine Retreat, which was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sessions in this series will take place the third Tuesday of each month from 7 to 8 p.m. ET via Zoom. All female members of ISMA are welcome to join us to connect, network and discuss topics of special significance to female physicians today. Sessions will begin with a brief opening presentation, followed by a facilitated group discussion.

In order to receive CME credit, participants will need to complete the learner assessment survey (evaluation) for each session in which they participate.

This Month's Topic:

Connecting Your Fork and Your Feelings:
Using Diet and Strategic Lifestyle Interventions to Optimize Your Mental Health

Discussion points:

  • Identify evidence-based dietary patterns and lifestyle interventions that improve mental health symptoms of depression and anxiety.
  • Identify essential nutrients that support healthy brain function and ways to source them into the diet.

Speaker:

Erica Leazenby, MD
Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) Certified Practitioner

Erica Leazenby, MD, is a board-certified family physician and a natural food chef. She is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine and the Natural Gourmet Institute for Culinary and Healing Arts in New York City. Dr. Leazenby has enjoyed a successful career in private practice, urgent care and public health. Over time she observed a growing need to address the whole person, not just the disease in front of her. In order to fill this void she found in the conventional health care system, she began training in functional medicine with the Institute for Functional Medicine.

In 2016, Dr. Leazenby created Relish Health and began partnering with her patients in pursuit of greater health. Equipped with an empathetic ear, a diverse medical background and a passion for nutritious food, Dr. Leazenby advocates lifestyle changes and holistic therapies customized for each patient to experience their highest expression of wellness.
