Indiana Maternal Mortality Review: Insights from 2018 - 2021
Accredited for 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™
Thurs., Mar. 16, 2023
Noon – 1 p.m. ET
When a mother or expectant mother dies, the ripple effects on families and communities are enormous. Fortunately, there are simple steps that all physicians can take to protect their pregnant patients and those who may become pregnant. In this webinar, Mary Pell Abernathy, MD, MBA, chair of the Indiana Maternal Mortality Review Committee, will discuss the committee’s work to gather data about and increase awareness of perinatal deaths, the disparities and other factors contributing to those deaths, and what physicians can do to safeguard patients of childbearing age.
At the end of this webinar, attendees will be able to:
- Outline the findings of Indiana’s MMRC review.
- Understand persistent population-level disparities that exist.
- Enact many of the recommendations made to reduce maternal mortality throughout our state.
