Program Description:

Adolescence is a critical time, marked by physiological and psychological changes that can significantly impact children’s lives and those of their loved ones. Young people may face other challenges, as well, and may engage in high-risk and impulsive behavior such as using and abusing drugs and alcohol. Substance use disorder among adolescents is devastating many youth, their families and their communities. This disorder is treatable, but more health care professionals must know how to screen, intervene and refer these young people for treatment. Our expert will share clinical guidance on how to do this in various settings in which adolescents receive health care.

At the end of this webinarattendees should be able to:

  • Apply best-practice guidelines for screening and assessing adolescents for potential substance use disorder.
  • Implement screening tools.
  • Appreciate the importance of confidentiality laws.
  • Ascertain when to refer someone for assessment and treatment.
  • Identify best practices in the treatment of adolescent substance use disorders.
