About the Speaker: 

Dr. Annis is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and the Indiana Society of Anesthesiologists. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in anesthesiology and in pain management.  He  is also a frequent presenter and lecturer at medical conferences focused on advanced pain management and anesthesiology techniques and has contributed to several research projects and journal articles.

Program Description:

Today’s fight against the opioid epidemic involves addressing it from all angles. It entails diverse groups working together - physicians, pharmacists, policy makers and medical and specialty societies - to reverse the tide.  Understanding one another's perspectives and clinical realities is essential. 

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this webinarattendees should be able to: 

  • Describe major medical societies’ current positions and recommendations in regards to opioids
  • Outline the history of opioids and how we arrived at the current crisis
  • Formulate alternative therapeutic options for the treatment of pain

Within 24 hours, you will receive a secondary email containing a URL link to access the video recording, downloadable PowerPoint slides, pertinent handouts and the program evaluation form.  Please note you must complete the program evaluation in order to finish the course and receive your CME Certificate, which will be sent via email within 2 weeks.  At present, ISMA is processing certificates in batches, based on completion date.
