The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) has delayed the launch of a new system to centralize electronic vital records, including birth and death certificates, until May 20, an ISDH spokesperson told ISMA. The system will be used by every coroner, physician certifier, funeral home and local health department that plays a part in reporting these events to ISDH. The original launch date was May 6.
This first phase of the Indiana Electronic Vital Events Records System, or EVERS, includes complete implementation of the death module, inventory management system and accounting system. The current Genesis system will not be available for three days prior to the EVERS launch date, to allow for final data conversion.
Dates for online training on how to access and use the new system have not been set, but ISMA will keep members updated as more information becomes available. Meanwhile, ISDH has scheduled 11 EVERS training sessions across the state (information below). ISDH considers it critical to participate in this training to be able to access and use the new system after May 20.
