53 medical students inducted into Gold Humanism Honor Society
Thirty-seven third-year students were among Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSOM) inductees to the Arnold P. Gold Humanism Honor Society this fall. They join 16 third-year students from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MU-COM) inducted into the national honor society in the spring. The Gold Humanism Honor Society chapter at MU-COM was named one of five outstanding chapters for its exemplary activity.

Also this fall, ISMA member Richard Gunderman, MD, an IUSOM faculty member, was inducted.

The mission of the Gold Humanism Honor Society is to recognize individuals “who are exemplars of humanistic patient care and who can serve as role models, mentors and leaders in medicine,” according to the organization’s website. Inductees also must demonstrate excellence in humanistic clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service.
