Indiana Stroke Guidelines

At the 2007 ISMA Convention, Resolution 07-39 Utilization of Indiana Stroke Guideline was referred to the Board of Trustees for action. The Board amended the first resolved but kept the second resolved, which states these guidelines should be posted on the ISMA Web site in an effort to disseminate them.

Stroke is the third leading cause of death and the first leading cause for disability in the country, and Indiana has the 7th highest stroke rate in the U.S. To positively change those statistics, the Indiana Stroke Prevention Task Force developed these guidelines for the management of stroke. The guidelines are divided into three sections: risk factors for stroke, transient ischemic attack and ischemic stroke.
