The CoverMe Foundation is a national organization that conducts detailed eligibility screenings and matches insurance plans or other programs to the patient. The foundation needs the support of practicing physicians to find uninsured patients. The process is simple and consists of faxing a referral sheet that includes patient contact information and responses to five yes/no questions that determine the patient’s eligibility.
After receiving the faxed information, the CoverMe Foundation interviews the patients and determines their eligibility for SCHIP and Medicaid, or helps identify alternative discounted medical resources in their communities.
The effort benefits both patients and physicians. The patient secures health care coverage, thus reducing emergency room visits, and physicians begin receiving reimbursement for previously uninsured patients.
