Kellie Templin, Part B EDI consultant, provided a demonstration on National Government Services (NGS) enrollment and gave an enrollment disk to all attendees. Physicians enrolled in Medicare will receive a copy of this disk through the mail. Please access and follow the instructions for any new enrollee in Medicare.
Templin also explained that Medicare has identified examples where the Multi-Carrier System (MCS) is correcting billing or pay-to-provider data on Part B claims from group practices. As of May 18, the MCS Part B claims processing systems will no longer correct claims submitted by group practices reporting an individual rendering Provider Identification Number (PIN) or individual rendering NPI – in either the billing or pay-to provider identifier fields.
Groups should enter either their group NPI, or group NPI and legacy PIN number pair, in either of these fields.
