Pres. Bush signs bill delaying requirement to use tamper-proof Rx pads

The ISMA has learned that President Bush signed a law Sept. 29 delaying the implementation date for all paper Medicaid prescriptions to be written on tamper-resistant paper. The new deadline is April 1, 2008.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) indicated additional guidance would be forthcoming. The ISMA will pass along details as they become available.

Indiana Medicaid issues bulletin about prescription pads

Indiana Health Coverage Programs has issued a bulletin containing provisions "of particular interest to providers" regarding use of tamper-resistant prescription pads with Medicaid patients.
