| Hospital named Level II trauma center |

Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne was recently designated a Level II trauma center in both adult and pediatric care.
Key criteria for the designation includes: trauma-trained medical directors of both departments, dedicated nurses in ICU units, specially trained emergency room physicians and nurses, and surgical and medical specialists who meet specific requirements.
The designation is awarded by the American College of Surgeons and re-verified every three years. |
| Unity splitting with Anthem |

Unity Healthcare, based in Lafayette, has announced plans to end its contract with Anthem on Jan. 1.
Approximately 60,000 residents in the area will be affected at over 75 locations.
Unity cites lack of reimbursement in Anthem’s latest proposal as the reason for the withdrawal. Negotiations are ongoing. |
| Norton no longer Anthem provider |

Norton Healthcare ended its contract with Anthem June 30. Norton has more than 85 locations in southern Indiana and Louisville, Ky., covering more than 300,000 people.
The previous contract was terminated in December with 180 days to negotiate a new contract. Norton asked for higher reimbursement rates in its contract proposals and is upset over timely claims.
Anthem will continue to pay in-network rates at Louisville’s Kosair Children’s Hospital and some continuous care conditions may be covered. No plans exist for future negotiations. |
