Top level medical practice administrators have found a friend in the Vanderburgh County Medical Society (VCMS).
In March, the organization formed a new practice administrator group to discuss some of the issues and challenges facing medical practice. The idea was proposed by the VCMS Board of Directors.
“The program is just in its infancy, but the feedback has been very positive,” said VCMS Director Caren Whitehouse. “The meetings are incredibly popular because they allow the administrators to help each other and speak in confidentiality. It’s a great member benefit.”
The free monthly meetings are held during lunch and are open to practice administrators of VCMS members. About 20-25 staff members attend. The group discusses issues such as finances, difficult employees, stress, technology, billing and coding, and workflow.
“The meetings have been very helpful,” commented Bob Cherry, practice administrator for the Ohio Valley Colon and Rectal Surgeons in Evansville. “It enables us to meet and hash out issues.”
