The Indiana Department of Insurance announced physicians will have no increase in the surcharge rate paid to the Patient’s Compensation Fund (PCF) for 2011. Hospitals will have a 3.8 percent increase. New rates become effective March 1.
Last year, physicians had a 17.7 percent drop in the PCF surcharge rate, a 37.3 percent reduction in three years.
The ISMA has filed five amicus briefs since 2005 to defend the fund in malpractice cases. Such efforts represent your dues dollars at work.
