The Oct. 1, 2015, deadline to implement ICD-10 is now firm. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued the final rule July 31. However, the deadline gives you one more year to prepare and work with vendors so you don’t experience financial hardship next year.

ICD-10 will add 55,000 new codes. According to HHS, the new system will help to better coordinate a patient’s care across providers over time and lead to greater accuracy of reimbursement for medical services.

To help you, the ISMA offers ICD-10 coding webinars for six specialties. Find them here.
