Finding the balance between taking care of your patients and taking care of yourself can be challenging. Studies show that patients model the behavior of physicians, so taking time to maintain personal health has a resounding effect on the people you treat.

To help you achieve a balanced healthy lifestyle, the AMA offers the “Physician’s Guide to Personal Health Toolkit.” The free online educational opportunity helps you take manageable steps and track personal goals to:

  • Eat healthier foods
  • Increase physical activity
  • Quit smoking
  • Reduce risky drinking

“It is one of the most difficult tasks physicians face, but it’s imperative physicians make their health a priority for themselves and for their patients” said Cecil B. Wilson, M.D., immediate past president of the AMA.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) is offered with the program. Find it on the AMA website.
