On average, one in three hospital patients suffers a medical error or adverse event, with one in 20 being an infection. In response, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services offers a series of interactive training videos with tips to help you prevent the spread of disease.

The free, online sessions discuss six key behaviors:

  • Teamwork
  • Communication
  • Hand washing
  • Vaccination against the flu
  • Appropriate use of antibiotics
  • Proper insertion, use and removal of catheters and ventilators

You can employ the results to learn best practices to prevent infections like methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus.

Find the videos on the hhs website.
