The ISMA and 20 other health care organizations have partnered with the Indiana Campaign for Smokefree Air (ICSA) in a push to encourage Hoosiers to support HB 1018.

The bill, which is waiting debate in the Senate, would prohibit smoking in public places, including enclosed areas in places of employment and state vehicles. Bars, taverns, private clubs and nursing homes would be exempt. However, the ISMA and the ICSA are working with Senate leaders to include all workplaces in the bill’s language.

The campaign published newspaper advertisements March 9 and 11 in Fort Wayne, Logansport, Bluffton and Rensselaer. Direct phone calls, letters to editors and grassroots efforts are being planned for other areas of the state.
