Provisions of the Affordable Care Act require group health plans and health insurance issuers to cover preventive services without passing the costs on to enrollees. Expanding preventive care decreases health care costs, increases efficiency in health care spending and reduces the burden of preventable disease.

To help you easily code for these services, the AMA offers “The Preventive Service CPT Code Pocket Guide.” The resource provides vaccine and preventive services in specific age categories for which coinsurance/deductible are waived, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Find the downloadable guide - free to members and nonmembers - on the AMA website.
