If you participate in reporting Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) measures, you may have already received your 2009 bonus payment.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) began sending payments Oct. 25, and they will continue through Nov. 12, 2010. The bonuses will be paid in a lump sum either by paper check or electronically to the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) under which the claims were submitted. For group practices, the TIN will determine how incentives are distributed.

Last January, CMS instructed Medicare contractors to use the new indicator LE instead of LS to indicate incentive payments. LE now appears on the electronic remittance advice, along with the four-digit code, PQ09.

Additionally, the paper remittance advice will state, “This is a PQRI incentive payment.” The year will not be included in the paper remittance.

Also, feedback reports are now available here.

If you have problems or cannot find your report on the website, refer to the CMS website for an alternative method of going through your local carrier. You can reach your local Medicare carrier, National Government Services, at (866) 276-8129.
