You can start to participate right now in the 2010 Electronic Prescribing (eRx) Incentive Program and potentially qualify to receive a full-year of incentive payments.

To successfully meet reporting criteria as an eligible professional, you must report the eRx measure at least 25 times (for eligible patient encounters). The Medicare Part B Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) allowed charges for services in the denominator of the eRx measure should be comprised of 10 percent or more of your total 2010 estimated allowed charges.

For 2010, eligible professionals who successfully report the eRx measure will become eligible to receive an eRx incentive equal to 2.0 percent of their allowed Medicare charges. For 2010 there is only one numerator, code G-8553, which will be used with the denominator code (eligible patient visit).

You do not need to sign up or pre-register to participate in the 2010 eRx incentive program. You only need to report code G8553 for the eRx measure to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services through your claims, or submit via a qualified registry or qualified electronic health record that will indicate your intent to participate.
