With just a few short months until ICD-10 implementation, debate continues about whether or not it should be delayed. At this point, the ISMA does not anticipate any delays and urges you to prepare for the Oct. 1, 2015, compliance deadline or face nonpayment of claims.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) offers a Quick Start Guide to assist you. The guide walks you through these five steps to prepare for the new code set:
- Make a plan
- Train your staff
- Update your processes
- Talk to your vendors and health plans
- Test your systems and processes
The ISMA remains available to answer all your ICD-10-CM questions. For more information on ICD-10, see the education tab on the ISMA website. Visit this page often for specialty education and all the ICD-10 news.
