New profiles show key disease rates, drug use and deaths in all Indiana counties Untitled document

Many physicians and others in Southern Indiana were surprised by the sudden spread of HIV in their area. Now you can stay informed about and respond appropriately to some disease spikes in their early stages.

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) has developed county profiles and made them easily accessible online. Each profile shows the number and incidence rate by county of HIV, HCV, STDs and the number of individuals currently living with HIV.

In addition, the profiles include the total number and incidence rate for drug overdoses and deaths, as well as comparisons to the totals for the state of Indiana. An ISDH syringe exchange guidance document contains additional information, including state and national resources and syringe access options for local health departments considering exchange programs.
