After the House passed bipartisan legislation March 25 to change Medicare reimbursement for physicians and kill the sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula, the Senate left for spring break without taking its turn to vote on the bill.
Senate leaders have reportedly pledged to take up the issue quickly upon their return to Washington, but the delay pushes past the April 1 deadline for the 21 percent cut to Medicare rates for doctors.
Indiana’s Medicare administrative contractor WPS has advised that under current law, electronic claims are not paid sooner than 14 calendar days (29 days for paper claims) after the date of receipt.
More information about the status of Congressional action to avert the negative update and next steps will be provided to you on or before April 11, 2015.
But now is YOUR time to act! If you have not contacted Indiana Senators Donnelly and Coats, do so today! Ask them to support the bill to fix Medicare physician payment.
